* OS installation offered installation of "additional Fedora software"; since this was not the default setting, I didn't select it
* Totem Movie Player (2.23.2) is the primary multimedia application
* Rhythmbox takes on audio CD duty
* takes the hardline against most multimedia formats, redirecting user to http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/CodecBuddy
* on pass 2, I learn about a number of codec packs available for purchase through Fluendo; the MP3 one is free so I installed that one for the second pass. The other packs are:
** Complete set of playback plugins: 28 Euro
** MPEG Playback Bundle: 16 Euro
** MPEG4 Part 2 Video Decoder: 7 Euro
** Dolby AC3 Audio Decoder: 7 Euro
** MPEG2 Video Decoder: 7 Euro
