Totem Movie Player (2.23.2) is the primary multimedia application
Rhythmbox takes on audio CD duty
takes the hardline against most multimedia formats, redirecting user to http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/CodecBuddy
on pass 2, I learn about a number of codec packs available for purchase through Fluendo; the MP3 one is free so I installed that one for the second pass. The other packs are:
- Complete set of playback plugins: 28 Euro
- MPEG Playback Bundle: 16 Euro
- MPEG4 Part 2 Video Decoder: 7 Euro
- Dolby AC3 Audio Decoder: 7 Euro
- MPEG2 Video Decoder: 7 Euro
