The .KAR file format was designed by Tune 1000 Corp. They have abandonded it, but it is still the prevailing file format in shareware/public domain market.

The .KAR file format was designed by Tune 1000 Corp. They have abandonded it, but it is still the prevailing file format in shareware/public domain market.

MIDI-Karaoke (which uses the ".kar" file extension) files are an "unofficial" extension of MIDI files, used to add synchronized lyrics to standard MIDI files.

Many .kar files work in standard midi players and some .midi files have lyrics.
