Codec Classification
I'm not very happy with the current classification by FourCC. This way we have multiple entries per codec, say VP70, VP71 and VP72 for video or 0x1101, 0x1102, 0x1103, 0x1104 for audio. The latter hex identifiers are even more cryptic and are simply not the names people commonly use to refer to those codecs. My idea: Put up codec pages with the "proper" names and make the FourCCs into pages that immediately redirect to that page. All FourCCs and similar identifiers should of course be listed on the codec page. -- DonDiego 05:55, 31 December 2005 (EST)
