The Sony PlayStation 2 is a video game console developed by Sony and released in 2000. The system is DVD-based. For multimedia, PS2 games are suspected to use standard MPEG-2 video that is playable via internal hardware decoders available in the console. Alternately, the popular Bink Video system is supported on the PS2.
