In video coding technology, a macroblock generally refers to a 16x16 block of pixels in a picture. In the YUV 4:2:0 colorspace, a macroblock is represented as 6 8x8 blocks: 4 of these blocks are located in the Y plane, 1 in the U/Cb plane, and 1 in the V/Cr plane.
