allowed Ubuntu to install its copious updates after its initial boot
Totem 2.22.1 is the main media player
Ubuntu seems to perform admirably OOB, at least WRT knowing what media is and giving clear indications of what is wrong; maybe that's only useful to me, though
I'm very impressed with the fact that Totem recognized absolutely everything, even though it couldn't play anything on the first pass

- GStreamer plugins for mms, wavpack, quicktime, musepack: apparently needed for AAC
