halfway through the suite, I think that Real Player might have hijacked file associations after its first invocation due to a dedicated Real format
on pass 2, an archaic X UI dialog redirects me to SUSE's website with an enormous URL that has codec information encoded into it; this just tells me that Fluendo might be able to help me
