MPEG stands for Motion Picture Experts Group. It is the proverbial 800-pound gorilla of multimedia technology. While touted as relying on "open" technology, fees must be paid and access to official documents is restricted.
Some of the standards coming out of the MPEG group include MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, MPEG audio layer 3, MPEG audio layer 2 and MPEG-21.
This is a placeholder page. Eventually, the MultimediaWiki should include independent specifications of all relevant MPEG technologies.
