The ISO/IEC JTC1/SC29 is the subcommittee of the ISO and IEC (which together comprise the JTC) that researches multimedia coding. They have 2 (active) working groups.
- Working Group 1 (WG1) is the "Joint Photographic Experts Group"(JPEG) - active
- Working Group 11 (WG11) is the "Moving Picture Experts Group" (MPEG) - active
- Working Group 12 now MTF
