: I'm not sure I understand your question. Anyway, a codec is a format for audio/video data representation. If you want to differentiated a codec, e.g. H.264, from a container like MOV, then use the term container, format is much too generic. I'm not sure I understand your question. Anyway, a codec is a format for audio/video data representation. If you want to differentiated a codec, e.g. H.264, from a container like MOV, then use the term container, format is much too generic.
