is AMV a file-format or a video-codec?, I thought AMV was the file-format and MTV was the video-codec?!, both extentions (.amv and .mtv) can be found on MP4/MTV-Player download sites :/

Clarification

It is a file format used for carrying compressed video/audio streams. so is MTV but the latter while carrying compresed audio just uses raw rgb for the video.
